Lifelong best friends, Fran Wahlberg and Karoline Gierymski founded Leaf & Stone to help people create beautiful homes with a commitment to wellbeing.

Fran began to research Green Building in depth when her son was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease as an infant. His diagnosis led her to re-examine the products used in home design and construction, and the impact they have on our health and the environment. Motivated by concern for the toxic chemicals that surround us every day, she set out to create a healthy, sustainable and beautiful home for her family, and loves sharing that knowledge with family, friends and the community.

Inspired by research and personal experience, Fran became a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Associate, Green Classroom Professional, International WELL Building Institute™ WELL Accredited Professional, and a Licensed Real Estate Agent with a focus on healthy homes. At Leaf & Stone, we are dedicated to helping individuals and communities create healthier homes, schools and small businesses.

Karoline is chief marketing officer, head of operations and creative force behind Leaf & Stone. Over a 20+ year design career, she worked closely with clients in the healthcare space, developing wellness programs and exploring the question: how do we truly inspire people to invest in their own health and wellbeing? The answer became deeply personal. Losing her mother to cancer and later living through the hidden health consequences of mold-contaminated homes, Karoline gained an intimate, firsthand understanding of how our daily environments and dietary choices can work for or against us. That awareness and desire to share what she has learned is at the heart of her contributions to Leaf & Stone. Karoline is currently pursuing her LEED Green Associate and WELL AP certification.
